If you dream of studying in North America but do not have the required sums of money to finance the higher education costs of the USA, then you must consider Canada for higher studies in top-ranked Canadian Colleges and Universities.

Canada has 30 universities that have made their way into the QS World University Rankings. The quality of education provided by Canadian Universities is the same as the USA, just with a lower price tag.

Moreover, Canada has a myriad of research-focused universities that warmly welcome foreign students. In this article, we have talked about some of the best scholarships available in Canada along with some first-hand information about the study requirements, part-time working conditions, and cost of living in Canada.

How much does it cost for students to live in Canada?

If you choose to live in a hub city like Toronto and Vancouver, your cost of living will be much higher than in some of the other cities. Of course, you can choose to live in the outskirts of big cities to save money. On average a student in Canada will need about 1000-2700 CAD per month. This is an average amount which can go up and down depending upon whether you are living in a big or small city respectively (Ref shiksha).

Working on Canadian Student VISA in Canada:

Students in Canada are allowed to work 20 hours a week during the semester and unlimited hours during semester breaks and vacations. This requirement remains the same with on-campus jobs. Students, who do not adhere to this regulation can lose their student visas and can also be deported from Canada.

IELTS Requirement at Canadian Universities in 2024: Optional

The languages of instruction in Canada are English and French. Some institutions are also bi-lingual. Students who want to study in English and whose first language is not English will have to give proof of their language proficiency via standardized tests. IELTS is the most widely accepted test of them all.

Due to the novelty of the situation posed by global health concerns, a number of Canadian universities are accepting tests like Duolingo. Still, students should look through the entry requirements of their universities of choice.

Top Higher Educational Institutions of Canada:

Canada has a number of top-notch higher educational institutions and as per my analysis these are the best one; University of Toronto, the University of British Columbia, McGill University, McMaster University, and the University of Montreal.

2024 Scholarships in Canada Without IELTS:

There is a great difference between the tuition fee for international and local students in Canada. International students can apply for scholarships in Canada that are usually merit-based.

Do you know the following Canadian Universities also accept IELTS alternative exams or certifications if an applicant holds a good grip of English Language Proficiency and acceptable exams other than IELTS are PTE, DET, TOEFL, and vice versa for Canadian Scholarship applications. A large number of Canadian scholarships are also reserved for students with limited finances.

Following is the list of all Canadian Scholarships without IELTS; open for applications for the 2024-25 academic batch:

1- University of Manitoba Scholarships:

The entrance scholarships at the University of Calgary at the undergraduate level are also open for international students. Applicants will be judged on their past academic and non-academic records.
